Going on a gem mission in LA's Fashion District can be a daunting, sensory overloading task, but Shenoute's TOTALLY RULES!I went to every bead shop on Maple looking for the perfect rose quartz beads to string around my BFFs wedding tables and they were so patient and helpful I cant even tell you. First of all, Maria helped us for over an hour while we were waiting for opinions and approval via text message from the out-of-state bride-to-be. They pulled every viable bead off the walls and helped us compare and contrast until we found the perfect gems... They have the best selection of long strand beads at the best prices BY FAR, plus you can get hooked up with an even sweeter deal if you buy in bulk. Other stores (next door, ahem) charge you double the price for half the strand length. I call BS! The owner, Beshoy Gerges, even came out and offered up his opinion on our bead selections (given the color scheme) which was also very helpful. It was also the only store I went into today that didnt make me feel like I was getting screwed by professional negotiators.

I love this corner of Beverly Blvd. ?On weekends to myself, I visit the DM store, have brunch at Kokomo, then visit Jonathan Wright and Co. Diane Merrick boutique has a chic-glam interior without being over-the top. ?A beautiful crystal chandelier meets you at the foyer, and there is a mini-bar, and a living room set up with a plasma screen and drinks for weary boyfriends to relax in.The stylish girl who I am helped by every weekend I visit, is helpful and has a keen background to local boutiques. ?She knows her stuff.Diane Merrick has a fabulous eye for design and fashion. ?There are always pieces of clothing, jewelry and accessories whose designers I recognize, yet are unique and aren't available in most department stores (read: ?you cannot buy what they carry at TJ Max, or http://overstock.com- very exclusive).The store has a big collection of ?casual and relaxed items (the "L.A. definition" of casual). ?Lots of designer jeans, dresses and tops in jersey fabric, high-quality cotton basics Stainless steel jewelry, simple jewelry with unique charms, light cardigans, and small accessories and gifts. ?Although some merchandise are pricey, you'll find items marked down quite a bit during sales. ?A store that should not be missed. ?I beautiful store with beautiful things in a comfortable Stainless Steel Earrings, doll-house space.
Such a beautiful store. The pictures on here are from their old, smaller store. Their new store is huge, with white walss and wood floors. They have buddhas everywhere and a small sitting area with a large plasma screen for your boytoy's enjoyment. Diane and Merrick are super nice women. They have a great selection of clothing at a good variety of prices, high to moderate!
Quaint little store with fun items...I am a particular fan of their undie selection Sterling Silver Bangles! ?A plus: ?right down the street from Urth Cafe and Elixir if you so feel inclined to eat and drink amongst your shopping day!
I really do ?not like the new store. It's big and clean, but doesn't seem to have much interesting in it. ?Also, like the old store, the salesgirls, and I do mean girls, run hot and cold.Neither high-end nor low-end, stuck in the middle.
I want to like this place more because it's the type of place I'd usually like (fairly casual, good jeans/t-shirt selection), but I realize that I hardly every find anything here. Not quite sure why - maybe not enough of a POV, to use Project Runway jargon? Nothing ever seems to call out to me here, but I guess it's a good selection of basics. Parking is a nightmare (or at least it was - don't know how the new Beverly location is) unless there's a space free in the back.
No matter what, no matter when, I always find what I need at DM. She's the best.

How many times have I walked/driven past this place and had no idea it was one of my best friend's favorite designers - whose dresses I secretly coveted. ?Well now I no longer have to covet hers because all it took was a visit from said friend and now I have my very own dress. ?Carol Young uses this wonderful (eco-friendly!) crinkly material that is awesome for travelling because you can literally scrunch it up into a ball and stick it in its bag. ?The dresses in particular are also extremely flattering pieces. ?She also carries some really cool jewelry and accessories. Talk about quick and friendly service! Took in my Movado thinking it was broken for good and I would have to spend WAY too much money to get a new band. However, after about 5 minutes of messing with it, he had it fixed and working again. ?Also, had a battery put in one of my other watches. ?All of this done while I waited and the price was out of this world. I will definitely be coming back here for any watch repairs I may need in the future. ?Also, for those who are looking for it. The shop is on the second level, small place, right above the toy store in the farmer's market. They don't validate, so stop and grab some coffee on your way out!
I have been going to Majestic Jewelers for as long as I can remember. ?(They were across the street on the south side of Third Street for years before moving to Fairfax, and now they are across the street again ... this time ?in the Farmers Market.)The husband and wife who own it know their stuff. ?And, if they don't think something is worth fixing, they'll tell you. ?I totally trust them. ? I've recommended Majestic to friends who have needed jewelry and watches repaired, and my friends have all been extremely happy with the results. ?All I can say is that I hope they never retire. As people have mentioned, it can be tricky to find ... but definitely worth it. ?(It is across from Kips Toyland ... look for the shingle and go upstairs.)
